Friday 21.8 at 13:00–17:00
13:00–14:00 Guided tour and discussion in the exhibition with artist Erik Creutziger and curator Juha-Heikki Tihinen (the main language of the program is Swedish and you may also present questions in English and Finnish)
14:00–17:00 Pride Shirt Workshop – design and paint your own Pride shirt with Erik Creutziger
The workshop is open to all ages. Participation is free of charge. The workshop will take place under cover in the courtyard of Gallery Elverket.
Create your own design on a T-shirt or another piece of fabric or clothing. We will use monotype printmaking as our method and draw inspiration from the colours featured in the gallery exhibition. We will provide a selection of shirts and garments for printing, most of which have been sourced from flea markets and prepared for the workshop. You are also welcome to bring your own garment to print on. The garment should be light-coloured, made of cotton, and clean and dry.
The workshop is organised as part of the public programme for the exhibition Erik Creutziger: Shadow of a Paradise: Works from 2003–2026.
Sunday 23.8 at 13:00–15:00
The queer history of Tammisaari: The Case of Marie Høeg
At Gallery Elverket and a guided tour in the centre of Ekenäs
What does the history of Ekenäs look like when viewed from a queer perspective? What made the Norwegian photographer, women’s rights advocate, and nowadays internationally renowned queer icon Marie Høeg (1866–1949) open a photography studio in Ekenäs as early as 1888?
Welcome to a journey into queer past of Ekenäs! The event begins with a lecture on the queer history of Ekenäs and on the queer significance of Marie Høeg, presented by author and cultural activist Rita Paqvalén. The lecture is followed by a walking tour through the town in the footsteps of Marie Høeg, led by photographer Vidar Lindqvist.
The main language of the event is Swedish. You may also present questions in English and Finnish. The event is organized by Pro Artibus and the programme is planned in cooperation with the speakers.
Rita Paqvalén is an author and cultural activist whose area of expertise is queer history and queer culture. She is also the patron of this year’s Raseborg Pride X.
Vidar Lindqvist is a press photographer and the publisher of nine local-history photo books about Ekenäs and Raseborg.
