Conservation

Pro Artibus’ conservator looks after the Foundation’s collection. The conservator’s duties include inspecting artworks before and after exhibitions, preventive conservation, and documentation of the works. The conservator also prepares the collection’s artworks prior to long-term loans.

Conservation thus involves trying to preserve the condition of the artwork and thereby to stop it deteriorating. Conversely, the aim of restoration is to recreate the artwork’s original appearance.
